In a space where dancers are already competing at a high level, this format cuts through the repetition of genres. Introducing multiple rounds, added pressure and more chances to perform.
WHAT
Top Tier Awards
While the Solo Showdown introduces a new layer of competition, traditional genre awards remain in place. At the end of the event, the highest-scoring soloists in each genre will still be announced and recognized based on their performances throughout the competition.
Round One: Heats
All soloists are randomly placed into mixed-genre heats of up to 10 dancers (registration dependent). At the end of each heat, the highest-scoring soloist advances to the Solo Showdown Finals.
Wildcard Selections
In addition to the heat winners, adjudicators will select two WILDCARDS from across all heats. These are soloists who may not have won their heat but delivered standout performances that deserve another opportunity to compete.
Solo Showdown: Finals
Heat winners and wildcard selections return to the stage to compete in the final round of the Solo Showdown. The winner will be crowned the TrueChampion Soloist.
The Solo Showdown was an idea that came to us once we started to see the popularity of the solo categories. With that we started to weave our mission of giving everyone the opportunity to dance into the lay out of our competition and we thought giving everyone the chance to dance multiple times felt it added a unique competitive flair to an already electrifying competition.
