Silver: 85.0 – 89.9

Gold: 90.0 – 92.9

High Gold: 93.0 – 94.9

Platinum: 95 – 96.9

Outstanding: 97.0 – 100.0

Routines

Solos: 1 dancer

Duos/Trios: 2-3 dancers

Small groups: 4 - 7 dancers

Large Groups: 8 - 15 dancers

Lines: 16 dancers or more

Music

music time is calculated by the moment the music starts till all dancers have exited the stage

TrueWest is committed to maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants. We celebrate dancers of all backgrounds and expect everyone to contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere. Any form of disrespect or discrimination will not be tolerated.

Jazz: Traditional jazz movement and technique is featured but open to interpretation

Tap: Emphasizes technical footwork with rhythmic precision. Pre-recorded sounds are prohibited.

Lyrical: Dancers should express the lyrics, mood and content of the music.

Modern / Contemporary: A fusion of lyrical and jazz movements incorporating modern elements.

Hip Hop: Should include street or contemporary jazz-funk movement styles.

Ballet: All forms of ballet are accepted, classical, demi-character and pointe

Open: For routines that do not fit into the other categories.

NOVICE

Dancer or group has never competed or performed on-stage before.

    1. All participants must be at least 17 years old by the date of the competition. No exceptions will be made.

    2. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.

    1. Payment can be made via e-transfer, credit card, or bank transfer. Cheques will not be accepted.

    2. All registration fees must be paid in full prior to the registration deadline. Incomplete payments will result in disqualification.

    3. No refunds will be granted under any circumstances, including medical emergencies or conflicts.

    4. Late entries are subject to a 15% late fee, provided there is availability.

    5. All NSF (non-sufficient funds) payments will incur a $50 fee.

    6. TrueWest reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any event. Refunds will be issued only at the discretion of the organizers.

    1. Dancers must perform in the order in which they are scheduled unless prior approval has been granted.

    2. Routines will not be rescheduled for personal conflicts. Limited exceptions may be made for unavoidable conflicts (e.g., exams).

    3. Any schedule changes after finalization will incur a $15 fee per adjustment.

    4. All dancers must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time.

    5. Dancers must report backstage at least three routines before their performance.

    6. Soloists may not compete against themselves in the same category.

    7. TrueWest reserves the right to add additional days or extend event hours if necessary.

    1. All participants, studios, and guests must comply with venue rules and regulations.

    2. Concerns or complaints must be directed to a TrueWest official in a respectful manner.

    1. TrueWest Dance Competition is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

    2. Participants and affiliated studios are financially responsible for any damages caused to the venue.

    3. By registering, participants accept all risks associated with participation and release TrueWest from liability for injuries, damages, or loss.

  • All video and photography captured during the event are the property of TrueWest and may be used for promotional purposes.

    1. All judges’ decisions are final and non-negotiable.

    2. Cash awards will be issued via cheque to the winning studio or group leader.

    3. Special awards may be given at the judges’ discretion and are final.

    4. Awards and scholarships are subject to the number of entries. TrueWest reserves the right to adjust categories or awards as needed.
