TrueWest is an 18+ dance competition for dancers who aren’t ready to walk away yet.
It’s for those figuring out what comes after studio competition and looking for something that still challenges them and feels worth showing up for.
Our vision is to redefine the adult dance competition experience in Canada by creating a space where dancers continue to train and compete at a high level, within a community that values excellence, growth and legacy.

Story
In 2024, founders Kelsea and Emma crossed paths and quickly realized how few opportunities existed for adult dancers in Western Canada. Both had spent years immersed in university and advanced dance teams. Seeing a clear gap in the local dance community, the two decided to do something about it.
They wanted to create a space where post-graduate dancers could continue to push themselves, connect with peers and be recognized for their skill and dedication. Less than eight months later, TrueWest was born, Calgary’s first 18+ dance competition.
Mission
We aim to support dancers in their continued artistic development while they transition out of high school competition into something exciting, structured and worth pursuing.
